OAKLAND — The Oakland girls basketball team handled Elkton, 54-36, Tuesday night in a nonleague game at the Nut House.

The win improved the Class 2A Oakers to 3-0 on the season.

Hadley Brooksby had 17 points, while Grace Witten had 15 points and five assists. Cassidy Jones had 11 points and seven rebounds.

"We got off to a good start," Oakland coach Don Witten said. "A good second quarter, I liked our assists. We shared the ball much better tonight. We had 18 assists. We're playing well right now, but we're a work in progress."

Kieryn Carnes led the 1A Elks (1-3) with nine points.

Oakland plays at Glide on Friday.
