RIDDLE — Yoncalla held Canyonville Academy to nine points in Saturday's girls basketball game at the Cow Creek Classic. The Eagles won, 54-9, to take third place.

"Yesterday, East Linn Christian was so big and we just didn't have a good day," Yoncalla coach Nicholas Edera said. "It was good to come back and play defense this well."

Yoncalla (1-6) fell 39-16 to ELC in Friday's game, while Canyonville (1-4) lost 55-43 to Riddle. 

Kaleigh Soto had 23 points for Yoncalla in Saturday's win. Coach Edera said freshman Alison Van Loon, who scored 11 points, had a great all-round game.

The leading scorer for the pilots was Patricia Chen with five points. 

Yoncalla will host Triangle Lake on Monday. Canyonville will host New Hope Christian on Wednesday.
