TRI CITY — South Umpqua won Thursday's Far West League girls soccer match, 2-0 over Marshfield.

Freshman Jadyn Vermillion scored both goals for the Lancers (4-5-1, 4-3-1 FWL) on assists from Hannah Lowell.

The first goal came in the 27th minute and the final goal against the Pirates (1-10-1, 1-6-1) was scored in the 64th minute.

"We played remarkably well as a team," South Umpqua coach Kami Wright said. "I thought that the defense did a tremendous job."

The Lancers will play at Brookings at 3 p.m. Tuesday and will take on Coquille in Thursday's senior night game to play for third place in the league.
