Roseburg's girls soccer team lost its first game of the season, 4-1 to South Eugene on Saturday at Fir Grove Field in Roseburg.

It was the Southwest Conference opener for both teams.

"We couldn't find our rhythm today," Roseburg coach Kristin Parks said.

Freshman Madasyn Van Acker scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute for Roseburg (3-1-1, 0-1 SWC). South Eugene (1-3-1, 1-0) tied it up in the 31st minute.

In the second half, the Axe come out strong and scored in the 43rd and 44th minutes to take a 3-1 lead. South Eugene scored again in the 78th minute.

"We just need to rest, recover and recalibrate, and get ready for the next game," Parks said.

Roseburg will play at Sheldon at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
