WINSTON — The Douglas girls soccer team completed a successful regular season on Tuesday with a 6-0 Special District 4 win over Coquille at Winston Middle School.

The Trojans (8-4-2, 6-2-2 SD4) finish second behind Brookings in the league standings and receive an automatic berth for the Class 3A/2A/1A playoffs which begin on Oct. 31.

Douglas scored five of its goals in the first half, four coming from Kaylie Hall and one from Roxanna Powell. Jasmin Lund had an assist on Powell's score. Douglas sophomore Mya Skurk scored the final goal in the second half.

Freshman goalkeeper Adrianna Sapp posted her third straight shutout on senior day, making 10 saves. Five seniors were honored: Hall, Chyanne Van Allen, Ayana Parson, Mackenzie Gillis and Alexis Walker.

"I'm very proud of their big turnaround from last year," said Douglas first-year coach Chuck Lund. "All of the seniors played phenomenal."

The Trojans will be on the road for their playoff game. Their opponent will be determined later this week.
