GLIDE — The Glide Wildcats swept Culver in the first round of the 2A state volleyball playoffs Saturday.
Set scores were 25-20, 25-21, 25-19 in favor of the No. 8 seed Glide.
"It's a relief," Glide coach Stephanie Furlong said. "It's always harder to play teams you don't know very well. I knew that my girls could do it if they played together and they came together today."
Johanna Pope had 18 kills and nine digs, Alyssa Malek added 14 digs, Mashayla Belloir had 20 assists and eight digs.
"Jordan Williams had five kills, but they were in really key moment," Furlong said. "She hit exactly what she needed. She plays that back position so it's harder to get her set, but every single time it came in clutch."
Glide will play top-seeded Kennedy in the quarterfinals of the 2A state volleyball championship Friday at Ridgeview High School in Redmond.
"I know (Kennedy) beat Culver, so I know we have to come out as strong or stronger than we did today," Furlong said. "We're very excited to be going to Redmond."
