CAMAS VALLEY — The Hornets got off to a slow start, but were able to put away Gold Beach 8-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-16 in a nonleague match Tuesday.

"We had some freshman jitters," Camas Valley coach Ron Pope said.

Camas Valley has four freshmen and three of them are starters.

Freshman Brooklyn Wolfe contributed 13 kills, five aces and five blocks. Senior Amayia Plikat had 11 aces, 10 assists and five kills.

Camas Valley hosts New Hope Christian in its Skyline League opener at 5:15 p.m. Thursday.
