TRI CITY — South Umpqua volleyball was named October’s Les Schwab Tires Class 3A Team of the Month.

Oregon School Activities Association and Les Schwab Tires recognize a varsity team each month in each of the six classifications.

The Lancers will receive a trophy and $100 donation to the program.

The teams are selected from nominations. South Umpqua was selected for finishing with a 19-5 season record, tying for first place in the Far West League and taking third at the state tournament.

South Umpqua also earned Academic All-State honors with a 3.64 GPA and the team boasts numerous multi-sport athletes.

Other teams selected in October were: David Douglas boys soccer (6A), Hood River Valley girls cross country (5A), Philomath volleyball (4A), Jefferson football (2A) and St. Stephens Academy boys cross country (1A).
