Roseburg’s fastpitch summer softball team beat a Portland-area squad, 11-4, Sunday in the 2017 NAFA Northwestern Championship in Newberg.

The Indians went undefeated in the tournament. Madysn Blevins hit a two-run homer and was the winning pitcher to help lead the way for the Indians.

The Roseburg-area team scored 57 runs (8.1 runs per game) over seven games during the 19-team tournament. The Indians countered that with only seven runs allowed.

Kalie Mann, from South Umpqua High School, was selected the tournament MVP. Others to receive All-Tournament recognition were Blevins, Katie Ladd, Maria Bacigalupo, Mackenzie Norton and Shalyn Gray.

The Indians will wrap up their summer season in the ASA Western National Championships in Medford. The tournament will feature more than 20 teams from Oregon, Washington, Northern California, Idaho, Colorado, and Hawaii. The brackets run July 31 through Aug. 6.
