DIXONVILLE — Umpqua Valley Christian used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Canyonville Christian Academy 41-29 Wednesday in the boys basketball season opener for both teams.

Jacob Luther scored eight points for the Monarchs, who went 0-24 last year. Aaron Buechley and Jacob Mesa each added seven points.

Tyler Mercier led the 2A Pilots with 10 points and Elijah Sandrali had seven.
