Charity to provide blankets for veterans

Umpqua Community Health Center and the Myrtle Creek Elks Lodge #1943 have partnered on a new program named Operation Warm and Cozy. It supplies veterans at the Roseburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center and south Douglas County assisted living facilities with lap blankets, hats, scarves and gloves.

Items can be dropped off at any Umpqua Community Health Center location or at the Myrtle Creek Elks Lodge, 106 S. Main St.

The campaign ends Jan. 15.

Well...how about having a drop-off at some place OPEN....I tried to donate and (luckily) called first - the Myrtle Creek Elks Lodge is hardly ever open - what's wrong with the Elks Lodge on Jackson? And, the Umpqua Health is no longer open on Saturdays - either location - so if the people trying to do this drive want anyone to help - find other places and make this easier!!!
