Community members raised $188,575 at the fourth annual Umpqua Community College Foundation Legacy Ball on Nov. 1 at Seven Feather Casino Resort in Canyonville, according to a press release.

"The majority of the proceeds will benefit UCC students through scholarships and program support," a press release from the community college said.

Tiffany Coleman, the executive director of the UCC Foundation, said it's largest annual fundraiser for the foundation which has raised nearly $700,000 over the past four years.

Of the $188,575 raised this year, $55,750 will go toward a memorial for the Oct. 1 2015, shooting.

UCC Foundation Director of Operations Ellen Brown said about 80 more people showed up than last year. "It was fantastic," she said.
