Le Petit, the small cafe on Jackson Street, is on the hunt for local wines and beers after being approved to serve alcohol by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.

The application was approved by the Roseburg City Council at their regular meeting Aug. 13, but owner Connie Smith began the process to get the license a few months ago and now is able to look for potential wines and beers to serve.

“We’re going to go on a wine tasting to different vineyards and pick out a local wine, probably several,” Smith said. “We’ll probably sell several beers as well.”

The application came after several people told Smith they would like to have a glass of wine to go with their lunch.

“We keep changing things to please our clientele, so that’s why we wanted to go ahead and get our OLCC license,” Smith said. “We had to get our license, which cost us more money, but we wanted to do that for our customers. I’m hoping this will increase our sales and people coming in to visit us.”

Le Petit Cafe opened this spring in their small space at 410 SE Jackson Street. It is owned by sisters Carol Arnott and Connie Smith.
