The Celtic Highland Games and Clan Gathering will be Sat/Sun Aug 25-26 from 9 am - 5 pm at Henry Estate Winery (687 Hubbard Creek Rd, Umpqua, OR 94786). Organized by the Douglas County Celtic Society, come watch heavy athletics, caber toss, hammer throw, stone put, edged weapons competition, etc. Plenty of vendors, clan tents, food and friendly pubs. Entertainers include harper Janet Naylor, multi-instrumentalist Joe Ross, fiddle/guitar duo D 'n A, and a bagpipe and drum band. A fun group of talented young Celtic musicians, Possibly Irish, will come down from the Salem area to be headliners. All welcome - Free parking - Gates open 9 AM - Gates close at 5 PM. Tickets are Adults: $11, Seniors 65+: $10, Kids 7-12: $5, Families (5+): $37, Kids 6 and under: FREE. Extreme dry camping available on a first-come first-served basis: Tent=$15 RV=$25.
Edged Weapons Competition - originated at these Games. Competitors use axes, swords and bows on a series of tests. The winner being dubbed the Lord High Protectorate of the Games.

Heavy Scottish Athletics - Started in the Highlands of Scotland to find the clan Chief's champion. Some of the events are the caber toss, hammer throw, stone put and more.
