Beginning the week of Oct. 8, veteran walk-in day at the Douglas County Veterans Service office will change to 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Wednesday walk-in day interview sessions will be limited to 30 minutes. Longer meetings will need to be scheduled.

In addition, the Douglas County Veterans Service Office will begin offering group appointments for new claims and new veterans. This is for veterans filing new claims or those with existing claims that are new to Douglas County.

Group appointments will be held Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. These sessions will explain the claims process, provide initial paperwork, file an informal claim to protect the effective date, offer each claimant a checklist and schedule a formal claim appointment. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions about the claims process.
