An attempted murder suspect for a crime in Grants Pass may be in Douglas County.
Lieutenant Jeff Hattersley of the Grants Pass Police Department told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN on Thursday that their investigation indicates that 36-year old Benjamin Foster of Wolf Creek may have headed north along the Interstate 5 corridor following an assault Tuesday night.
Grants Pass officers responded to a residence in the 2100-block of Shane Way just after 6:50 p.m. Officers found a female victim who had been bound and severely beaten into unconsciousness. She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
Hattersley said Foster had fled the scene before officers arrived, but was positively identified as the suspect.
Foster’s dark blue Nissan Sentra 4-door was found in Sunny Valley according to scanner reports. Oregon State Police SWAT and other law enforcement agencies helped with the search in the area and a woman who assisted Foster in his escape from law enforcement was arrested.
Hattersley said the woman was hiding Foster at a residence and then helped him escape. No further information was immediately available.
Hattersley said Foster is known to be armed and should be considered extremely dangerous. He is wanted by police for attempted murder, kidnapping and assault.
Anyone seeing Foster or knowing his whereabouts should call 911 immediately.
The suspect was arrested for a similar crime in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2019, according to multiple media reports.
