A Myrtle Creek man was arrested on Sunday after allegedly raping a 53-year-old woman in her apartment.

Deputies found Philip Mark Gregg, 49, at a bar in Riddle after the crime was reported to Douglas County Emergency Communications on Oct. 7.

When police first interviewed Gregg, he denied knowing where the victim lived and also denied using methamphetamine.

Later he admitted to meeting up with the woman and having sex with her, saying it was consensual.

He asked the deputy why that was a problem. The deputy told him that the victim said it wasn’t consensual. “Oh my God, no way!” Gregg replied, according to court documents. The deputy noted that Gregg was sweating profusely and avoiding eye contact.

Gregg said the pair were hanging out in her room having a drink when “boom,” she gave him a kiss, according to court documents.

Gregg said the victim never asked him to stop.

When deputies interviewed the victim, she said Gregg contacted her through Facebook and came over to have a drink. She said she might have known him from high school and Gregg acted like he knew her, according to court documents.

She told a deputy the pair were sitting on her bed when Gregg reached over in an attempt to lay her on the bed. She said no and stood up, according to court documents.

Then, she demonstrated how Gregg pushed her from behind, forcing her hands to the floor.

She told Gregg that it hurt and asked him to stop, according to court documents.

Deputies found two glass pipes on Gregg with methamphetamine inside. Gregg told deputies that he used meth 3 hours earlier.

Gregg was booked in the Douglas County Jail and charged with first-degree rape.
