A Roseburg man is in jail after police say he stole items from a parked vehicle and was attempting to break into two more.

Richard Tylor Benefiel, 30, was contacted by officers from the Roseburg Police Department at approximately 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Northeast Walker Court, Roseburg. During his arrest, police found a small amount of methamphetamine in Benefiel's possession.

Benefiel was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, third-degree theft, two counts of second-degree criminal trespass and methamphetamine possession.

He was lodged at the Douglas County jail in lieu of $60,000 bail.
