Umpqua Valley Christian School held its graduation ceremony last Sunday at Umpqua Community College’s Jacoby Auditorium. The guest speaker was Diane Mahoney who is president/CEO of Environné/Consumer Health Research, Inc. She also teaches part-time at UVCS as the business academy instructor.
Savannah Jean Willis is the valedictorian. She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Amy Willis of Sutherlin. Her honors and activities include academic high honors, servant leadership high honors, Future First Citizen Award winner, student government, varsity athletics in volleyball, track and softball. She plans to attend Umpqua Community College and then Grand Canyon University to pursue a degree in biology with an emphasis in pre-physical therapy. She plans to become a physical therapist assistant.
Marissa Perez is the salutatorian. She is the daughter of Wade and Tari Perez of Winston. Her honors and activities include academic high honors, Future First Citizen finalist, student government, varsity athletics in volleyball, basketball, track and softball, and she also won an Association of Christina Schools International Distinguished Christian High School Student Leadership Award. She plans to attend Umpqua Community College for one year and then transfer to Oregon State University to major in graphic design.
