Roseburg Playschool teacher Ana Orozco will receive more than $5,000 in donations to help her pay for a life-saving surgery.

541Radio helped with a can drive, which filled two U-Haul trucks and brought in just over $3,000. People also donated more than $2,000 in cash.

BMX team Extreme Racing was returning cans at Roseburg BottleDrop Redemption Center for its own fundraiser when they heard about Orozco. The group donated $100 of its proceeds to Orozco.

Orozco was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and CHI Mercy Medical Center required her to come up with an $8,500 insurance deductible prior to the March 28 surgery.

People can continue to donate money at Wells Fargo for the Ana Orozco Fund or at Roseburg Playschool.
