Daniel Endicott’s resignation from school board position No. 2 was approved by the Roseburg Public Schools board of directors during Wednesday’s meeting.
“Dan’s been a good board member, enthusiastic,” RPS board chair Charles Lee said. “He’s changed his life from being a merchant to an educator. He’s seriously committed to doing this full time. We’re going to miss him.”
When Endicott was elected as a board member in 2010 he managed Good Vibrations, an audio and video store in Roseburg. He is a math teacher at Oakland High School and working toward becoming an administrator.
Endicott served as the chair for both curriculum and instruction, as well as student services committees. He was also a member of the classified and licensed employee bargaining committees.
“I think (the school board) is a great body and a good position,” Endicott said in a phone interview Thursday, adding that he wants to avoid any conflict of interest if he were to apply for a job within the Roseburg school district.
The board also approved the search for a new board member to serve the remainder of Endicott’s term. His term was scheduled to end June 30, 2021.
During the board meeting, directors Joe Garcia and Dan Cotton publicly thanked Endicott for his service on the board.
Endicott, Paul Meyer and Steve Patterson were absent from the meeting.
The next school board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. July 11 at the Administrative Office Board Room.
