Cedric Hayden

Incumbent House District 7 Rep. Cedric Hayden, R-Fall Creek, defeated Democratic challenger Christy Inskip 61 percent to 39  percent, according to unofficial results updated at 11 p.m. Tuesday by the Oregon Secretary of State's Office.

House District 7 covers most of North Douglas County, including Sutherlin, Oakland, Yoncalla, Elkton, Drain and Glide, as well as rural South Lane Country.

Hayden, a dental surgeon, has served in the legislature since 2015, and is the son of former state legislator Cedric Hayden, Sr. He campaigned on a track record of crossing the aisle to work with legislators in the majority Democratic party in Salem. He said he wants to help restore logging jobs and prepare students for the jobs of the future.

Inskip lives in Cottage Grove and serves as senior community analyst for Lane County Public Health. She campaigned on creating new family wage jobs through infrastructure projects and better public education to create the highly-skilled workers businesses need.
