The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for an open position on the Douglas County Veterans Advisory Committee.

The committee provides direction and support to the Douglas County Veterans Service Office regarding functions of the office, improvement of services and promoting solidarity/communication among veterans groups of Douglas County. In addition, the VAC works in conjunction with the Veterans Parade Committee on the annual Veterans Parade event.

Assignments may include enhancing communication among veterans groups, tracking federal and state legislation regarding entitlements, promoting veteran and military awareness and functions, and interacting with local, state, federal and other veteran-related groups.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners appoints committee members based on involvement in veterans’ and community activities. The committee itself is comprised of nine members.

Applications are available by contacting the Douglas County Board of Commissioners Office, Douglas County Courthouse, Room 217, 1036 SE Douglas Ave., Roseburg, 541-440-4201 or at the Douglas County Veterans Service Office, Room 8, 541-440-4219. You can also get an application and submit it online at co.douglas.or.us.

The position will remain open until sufficient applications are received.
