Volunteers needed to help build beds for kids in need

The Umpqua Valley chapter of the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace will hold a bed-building event from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds River Arena, 2110 Frear St., Roseburg.

The 50 bunk beds made by volunteers at Saturday’s “Mega Bed Build” will be donated to needy children who don’t have beds in Douglas and Coos counties.

Since May 2018, the Umpqua chapter has delivered 50 beds to local children, and it has pending requests for another 85 beds.
