Ride for 22, an Idaho-based nonprofit, will work with local ambassadors to host two events benefiting veteran suicide awareness.

Backside Brewing Co. will host the 2nd Annual Ride for 22 Veteran Suicide Awareness 5k Kickoff party at 6 p.m. July 20. The event will include live music, a raffle with various prizes, an auction and more. The brewery is located at 1640 NE Odell Ave., Roseburg.

The 5k event begins at 10 a.m. July 21 at Stewart Park in Roseburg. Registration is available now, at the kickoff party or at the park the morning of the race. Cost is $30 per person. Children are free, unless a T-shirt or swag bag is desired. All ages are welcome, and participants can walk, run, push a stroller or a wheelchair. Water stations will be available.

Vendors, such as Dutch Bros Coffee, will be available with food and drink.

New this year is a motorcycle Poker Run, which begins at noon July 21. Registration is $15 per rider. The run will proceed through the Roseburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where an “Avenue of Flags” will be displayed. Riders will take Garden Valley Boulevard to Diamond Lake Boulevard, making stops at various bars along the route. The run will conclude at Backside Brewing Co.

An after-party for both events will begin at 5 p.m. at the brewery.

Proceeds for the Poker Run go to the local VFW Hall, while proceeds from the 5k will go to a local family impacted by suicide.
