Day 4 of the Jan. 6th Select Committee hearings delivered BIG! Arizona House Speaker, Republican Rusty Bowers, in sworn testimony, said that he voted for Trump and wanted Trump to win the election, but, he was not willing to lie or subvert the rule of law for Trump. It is shameful that more people who call themselves "Trump Republicans" do not have the honesty and courage of conviction of this man. This is what true patriotism and standing up for the Constitution actually looks like! If you need a refresher lesson, you would be well served in looking at Rusty Bowers, and not Trump!

Watching and/or listening to these hearings has been a true eye opener. It’s been very difficult to learn that people who are civic volunteers to support elections and ongoing democracy, police officers, civil servants have withstood life threatening sabotage often from their own people is incredibly disturbing and not okay. I’ve personally been the recipient of so much human kindness often from strangers, to see this part of humanity is disappointing to say the least. I hope these hearings result in a movement to build stronger protections for our Democracy as a nation.

And yet, in an article published today by The Atlantic, "The Comment That Reveals the Depths of the Republican Party’s Moral Collapse" by David Graham, the author reported that in an interview with the Associated Press published yesterday, Bowers said he would back Trump if he runs for president in 2024. “If he is the nominee, if he was up against Biden, I’d vote for him again,” Bowers said. “Simply because what he did the first time, before COVID, was so good for the country. In my view it was great.”

So maybe this guy isn't a hero after all, but is just one more GOPer wanting power.
