A Roseburg man was arrested in early 2018 after allegedly shooting his friend in the head while live-streaming the incident on his phone, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

At the scene, 23-year-old John Walker Adams told police his friend, Josman Cereceres, had accidentally shot himself in the head with a handgun while playing around.

But later, Adams told police he had lied about the shooting. Instead, Adams said he had been the one to accidentally shoot his friend while the two were drinking, playing around, and live-streaming their interaction on an app called LiveMe.

Adams said he picked up the gun and it went off, hitting Cereceres in the head. But when investigators obtained a copy of the video, they again learned Adams hadn’t disclosed all of the information.

The video showed Walker loading a magazine into the pistol, pull back the gun’s slide to load a live round into the firing chamber and place the gun to the side of Cereseres’ head before pulling the trigger, according to court documents.

Adams pleaded not guilty in May and is still awaiting trial.
