EVERETT, Wash. — Umpqua Community College freshman Nathan Webb continued his hot scoring run with a 31-point effort Friday night in the Riverhawks’ 80-66 win over host Everett, Washington, at the Everett Crossover Tournament.

Webb finished 11-for-21 from the field and made all eight of his free throws for Umpqua (7-1), which outscored the host Trojans, who led 36-34 at halftime. Webb also grabbed nine rebounds.

The Riverhawks outscored Everett 46-30 in the second half to pull away.

Talon Valdes had 17 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds for the Riverhawks, Marcus Sherwood posted 15 points and nine boards and Dante Sofia pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for Umpqua.

Umpqua was scheduled to close out the weekend tournament Saturday against Pierce Community College, but due to COVID-19 protocols, Pierce was forced to forfeit that game.

The Riverhawks will take a short break for the Christmas holiday then head to the desert to face South Mountain Community College to open the three-day Phoenix College Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona, Dec. 28.
