WINSTON — For the first time since joining the Far West League, the Douglas Trojans finally got one against league power St. Mary's.

Sophomore Jace Page hit a layup with 16 seconds to play and the Trojans got a pair of defensive stops in the game's final moments to hold on for a 53-51 win in the FWL boys basketball opener for both teams Friday night.

Page drove the lane and took a pass from Seth Rincon to give the Trojans the 53-51 lead. Douglas had a chance to extend the lead, but missed the first free throw in consecutive one-and-one situations.

Tyler Dunstan led three Douglas players in double figures with 15 points. Page posted his fourth consecutive double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Kahiki Nielsen had 12 points and four steals. Rincon and Brayden West each dished out six assists for the Trojans (6-3, 1-0 FWL).

Noah Friesen had a game-high 16 points for the Crusaders (4-8, 0-1), and Kayden Walker added 15.

Douglas will travel to Harrisburg to take on Umatilla in the MLK Showcase at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
