GLIDE — The Glide boys basketball team took a 11-point lead at halftime and held on for a 46-34 win over Sutherlin on Monday night in a nonleague game.

Junior Josh Ranger scored 13 points with three 3-pointers for the Class 2A Wildcats (6-6), who were missing five players due to COVID-19 protocols. Dylan Ackerman and sophomore Ty Davis each added 10 points.

Colby Bucich had eight points and 11 rebounds for Glide, while Ackerman and Clay Mornarich each grabbed seven boards.

Thomas Woods scored 11 points and Paul Cervantes chipped in 10 for the 3A Bulldogs (2-10).

"It was a good win. That might be the first time I've beaten Sutherlin (since I came here in 2002), so I'll take it," Glide coach Jeff Smith said. "We came out strong, then played even the rest of the way. I thought Ty Davis gave us a good spark."

Sutherlin is scheduled to host South Umpqua Friday in its Far West League opener. Glide had its opening Southern Cascade League contests pushed back and will play a nonleague game at Days Creek on Jan. 18.
