CRESWELL — The Douglas softball team opened its season Wednesday with a 10-9 loss to Creswell in a nonleague game.
Kierra Bennett ripped a pair of home runs in the second and seventh innings for the Trojans (0-1 overall) and knocked in three runs. She finished 3-for-4. Brooklyn Avery went 4-for-4 with a double.
Douglas went up 8-2 early, but the Bulldogs (2-0) rallied to the win.
"It was a good first outing," Douglas first-year coach Robin Knebel said. "This was our first time outside and I felt we performed pretty well."
Douglas is scheduled to host Gervais Friday.
